Bail Bond Hunting_

I met Dorry in what I would consider to be a transitional period of my life. As my real estate
career was coming to a drastic halt, I decided to place some calls to look into the Bail Bonds/Bounty
Hunting industry. From just a simple cold call, I got in touch with Dorry who offered me a position as
an intern even when there was no real need for the position at the time. I was introduced to veterans
of the game and was able to see how bail bonds were done first hand. After a couple months of being
in and around the office, Dorry had allowed me to enroll in his bail bonds class free of charge to get a
better feel for the industry and job. Shortly after taking the class and going on to pass the Bail Bond
license exam, I was a full time Bondsman in Dorry’s company. The transition to this position was a fast
one that allowed me to start earning some well needed income at the time. The job position was not
what I had planned for or expected to say the least, but without Dorry’s help and generosity, I honestly
don’t know where I would have ended up at that time.

Working with Dorry was tough on occasion as he was sometimes a bit demanding and particular
about what he wanted before he would sign off on a bond. Looking back though, I realized that it
was the particulars and details that had made him a successful bondsman with a recognized name
in the industry. I learned that the bail bonds business came with much risk and that Dorry had an
ability to assess that risk and ask for what was necessary to make the deal go through. It was in these
trying moments under Dorry that I learned what it took to be a good bondsman and how to succeed.
Although my life has taken me down another career path unrelated to Bail Bonds, I will never forget
the experiences I had as a Bail Bondsman in Los Angeles, California. Although it may have been short-
lived, it was definitely an interesting time in my life and an experience that I will carry forever. I have
one person to thank for that, Dorry Plotkin. May the memory of him live on with all the people he has
touched in his life. Rest in Peace.
